Dale Jarrett: Bristol doin' it right again!

Allen Bestwick: We take a look at our Irwin Tools starting grid, Edd gets the pole by 8 thousandths of a second over Tommy Pickles, the winner here last year in the night race. New dad Timmy Turner starts outside row 8 in 16th position and if you're looking for our In-Race Reporter, Phineas Flynn....he starts 42nd on the field. Dale Jarrett's gonna try to ring him up for us.

(IN-RACE REPORTER: Phineas Flynn - 43)


Dale Jarrett: Hey Phineas, it's Dale Jarrett in the ABC booth. You got me?

Phineas: Yes, yes I do.


Dale Jarrett: Phineas, you got your 5th win of the season last week in Michigan. You're solidly in the Chase. What do you think you can do to conquer this race here at Bristol?


Phineas: We're just gonna take this one lap at a time, stay out of trouble, make the right calls at the right time and I think we can come back from starting deep in the field. We're in the car we won at Indy with, too. Couldn't have asked for a better backup car.


Dale Jarrett: Alright, well good luck tonight, Phineas!


Phineas: 10-4, Dale.


Allen Bestwick: Now time for 'How Do You....?' presented by KFC. This week it's How Do You win at Bristol?

Allen Bestwick: Competition caution at lap 60, sunset at 8:09 Eastern Time, checkered flag will fly after 500 laps or maybe a few more. Edd leading 'em down for the start of the SHARPIE 500 at Bristol! Danny Fenton, a little slip on lap 1, gets it back together, only losing a couple spots.

Dale Jarrett: We had heavy rains here overnight and that pretty much washed all the rubber off this racetrack, so these drivers are seeing something and feeling something that they haven't this entire weekend.

Allen Bestwick: That's Jeremy Johnson you saw sliding through the pack there in the 31 car as they head down the backstretch. Joey Wheeler now up to 3rd, Randy Cunningham, Dudley Puppy, 48 and 99, now 4th and 5th. Hoagie Gilligan in the 2 trying to see if he can make some ground in that bottom lane.

Dale Jarrett: It's gonna be so difficult to do. These drivers telling me about the amount of grip up top on this racetrack....there's just 2 or 3 tenths, that's a lot here on this half-mile track.

Allen Bestwick: It's been the topic of conversation all week, they had a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race here. It was rained out Wednesday, ran it Thursday morning and from there right through to the Nationwide Series race last night and leading up to the race here tonight, it's been all about 'everyone's gonna be running up against the wall, how are you gonna make some ground?' Just to correct myself before, that was Otto Rocket that had the problems off turn 2, not Jeremy Johnson. Rocket's slipped back to 32nd place.

Andy Petree: That was pretty significant contact off of turn 2 and that car does look a little like Johnson's car, paint schemes are similar.

Allen Bestwick: Talked about guys in backup cars on 'NASCAR Countdown', Johnny Test among those driving backup cars, a little contact there with Cindy Vortex!

Andy Petree: Looks like Vortex may have gotten a piece of the wall.

Allen Bestwick: Just underway in Bristol, Edd leads through 15 laps, back after this and a word from your ABC stations.



(Lap 60 - Caution 1)


Allen Bestwick: Caution out for the 1st time tonight here in Bristol, this is the scheduled competition yellow from NASCAR. A unique pit road here at Bristol. Under green, you enter and exit on your side of pit road. Under yellow, you enter the pits through turn 2, go all the way around the track and exit through turn 1. Pit stops are underway! We head to the backstretch first and John Kernan.


John Kernan: A little slip by Danny Fenton on that first lap dropped him to 11th, he's up to 7th right now. 4 tires and fuel for the 16 and he's away! Jim Noble?

Jim Noble: Otto Rocket pits out of the 22nd position, 4 tires and fuel for him and he's away! Jamie Little?

Jamie Little: Tommy Pickles has the first pit stall off of turn 4, they'll make a wedge adjustment, 4 tires and fuel for the 24 and he's away! Doc?

Dr. Jerry Punch: Chassis adjustment already complete on the 15 of Ashley Armbruster, 4 tires and fuel for the 5-Hour Energy team and Armbruster's away! Dave Burns?

Dave Burns: Track bar adjustment complete on Edd's car, 4 tires and fuel for the polesitter and he's away!

Andy Petree: Cautions breed cautions, Dale. Looks like he had a little help from the 11 of Yugi Moto as you see a little damage to the fender of that FedEx machine.

Allen Bestwick: TROUBLE! Edd gets into the back of Yugi Moto in the 11 and he collects the 88 of Kim Possible! Caution out for just the 3rd time tonight here at lap 158 and just out of a cycle of green flag stops.

Allen Bestwick: 170 laps complete this time by, green flag in the air and we have trouble! Vince Lasalle gets into the back of Johnny Test! He collects the 15 of Ashley Armbruster, taking Joey Wheeler in the 18 with him! Caution will fly for the 4th time tonight at 170 of the 500 laps scheduled here at Bristol....

Dale Jarrett: What's Ashley Armbruster doing?

Andy Petree: Looks like she's going after Vince Lasalle!

Allen Bestwick: And we have a fight on the frontstretch! This is teammates going at it! Ashley Armbruster in the 15 and Vince Lasalle in the 55, both crashing out here at lap 171! Crew members and officials jumping in to try and restore order, Joey Wheeler trying to play the role of peacemaker as is Johnny Test....now NASCAR officials jumping in to break them up. All 4 heading off to the infield care center and possibly the NASCAR hauler.

Dale Jarrett: And this is what happens here at Bristol - tempers frayed, tensions rose and all hell just broke loose.

Allen Bestwick: 184 laps in the books here at Bristol, green flag is out and we have a challenge for the lead! Edd in the 4, 16 of Danny Fenton going for the lead of the race!

Andy Petree: A little wobble from that 4 car off of turn 3 that last time by.....

Allen Bestwick: And to the lead goes Danny Fenton!

Dale Jarrett: First time he's been out front this whole race, guys.

Allen Bestwick: Jamie Little has a medical update for us. Jamie?


Jamie Little: Johnny Test just released from the infield care center. Johnny, what happened there?


Johnny: I didn't see what happened to the 15 there, Jamie. The 55 just got into me, got me a little loose, sent us both into the wall. There was just so much smoke that I didn't see the 15 or 18 coming. I haven't had a chance to see the car yet....but I think we're done here. Bristol's rough on both driver and crew and we got the worst of it here tonight. I guess now it's on to Atlanta where I hope we can rebound and score our 2nd win of the year, lock us into the Chase.


Jamie Little: Johnny Test goes home disheartened....his night ends early here in Bristol.

Allen Bestwick: TROUBLE FOR PETER GRIFFIN! HE SLAMS THE INSIDE WALL ON THE FRONTSTRETCH.....Caution is out, 5th one of the night coming out at lap 258 of 500. Pits are open....and Abigail Lincoln STAYS OUT!

Dale Jarrett: Did not see that coming!

Allen Bestwick: Her last pit stop was on lap 240. Just past halfway at Bristol, we go NASCAR NONSTOP presented by XBOX ONE.

Allen Bestwick: And trouble for Ferb Fletcher! He slams the turn 3 wall, everybody misses him....CAUTION! Caution #6 on the night, comes out with 120 laps to go here in Bristol and report is that rain is on the way. We are past halfway, so should this race be rained out, it would be official and that 4 car of Edd would lock up that final open Chase spot. Pits are open! Money stop coming up! Jamie Little?

Dale Jarrett: That's the biggest piece of malarkey I have ever heard, Andy! Got a battle for 9th brewing here.

Allen Bestwick: That's Rhonda Lloyd filling in for Kick Buttowski in the 14 under siege from Randy Cunningham in the 48. That's going on left of your screen, on the right of your screen is where you'll see the 17 of Rudy Tabootie and the 22 of Tristan Taylor battle it out, that's for 12th place on the track. While all that's going on, Phineas Flynn has checked out on the rest of the field! He leads by 1.8 seconds over 2nd place Otto Rocket in the 3 car with 106 laps to go in Bristol! Allen Bestwick: Caution 7 on the night is out, debris in turn 4 the cause of this most recent yellow, which comes with now 47 laps to go in Bristol. Not many takers to the pit lane. Phineas Flynn continues to lead here in Bristol and after we're done here in Thunder Valley, it's off to Hot-lanta for a Labor Day Weekend shootout! NASCAR Nationwide Series up first with the Great Clips 300. Coverage begins on ESPN2 at 7 PM Eastern next Saturday. Next Sunday, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hits Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Oral-B USA 500, coverage begins with NASCAR Countdown at 7 PM Eastern next Sunday on ESPN. Then, two weeks from tonight, the Chase Grid is decided at Richmond. NASCAR Nationwide Series Virginia 529 College Savings 250 next Friday at 7 PM Eastern on ESPN2, Sprint Cup Series Federated Auto Parts 400 next Saturday, 7 PM Eastern, that's gonna be on ABC. Allen Bestwick: 8th caution of the race is out, debris on the backstretch the cause of this yellow coming out with 14 laps to go here in Bristol. Let's reset the lineup for you - Phineas Flynn leads, Otto Rocket 2nd, Tommy Pickles 3rd, Danny Fenton 4th and Dudley Puppy runs 5th. That's your top 5. 6th is Randy Cunningham, 7th is where we'll find Rhonda Lloyd, Edd runs 8th, Timmy Turner 9th and Nigel Uno rounds out the top 10 with 13 laps to go in Bristol.

Allen Bestwick: 8 laps to go in Bristol! Green flag in the air and Phineas Flynn is at it again!

Dale Jarrett: And I've said this before....the last thing Flynn wants to see right now is the yellow flag. He does not want a green white checker finish!

Allen Bestwick: Doc, what are they saying about the 43?


Dr. Jerry Punch: AB, they are good to the scheduled distance on fuel, but if we go to a green-white-checker, crew chief Isabella Garcia-Shapiro says....they could be screwed.


Andy Petree: They're hoping they see that white flag before the caution flag.

Phineas: Dave.....take a look at my dashboard and you'll find out. I have a picture of my girlfriend right there on the dashboard. I just look at that picture of Isabella before each and every one of my races and somehow I've been able to get up near the top 10. She's the love of my life....my inspiration. It's all thanks to Isabella that I've been able to do so well this year. We've got Atlanta next so....here's hoping we get that 7th win of the year, celebrate our country's workforce. I know what I'm gonna do this season! I'm gonna try to break Jeff Gordon's single season win record!
