NBC Sports Network will cover this game with Mike Emrick and John Davidson in the booth. Pierre McGuire is at ice level. Over to them now.

Mike Emrick (voiceover): February is rapidly drawing to a close and now it's crunch time in the NHL. Only 16 teams will advance to play for Lord Stanley's Cup and we're less than 2 months away from finding out who those teams are! The Sharks are one of the most talented teams in the league. A win tonight would clinch another 100 point season for the Sharks and a playoff spot. Standing in their way is Nick Dean and the Dallas Stars. Despite injuries to key players, the Stars could still squeak their way into the playoffs, but they must win at home tonight. Can the league's top goal scorer, Otto Rocket, bring his boys home? Or will Nick Dean and the Stars put themselves back in the playoff hunt? A challenge, a question, answered now! THE NHL ON NBC!

NHL ON NBC

San Jose Sharks (45-6-8)
vs
Dallas Stars (30-19-8)

American Airlines Center - Dallas, Texas

Mike Emrick: Over 20,000 fans set to pack American Airlines Center in Dallas to see the Stars take on the best team in the NHL, the San Jose Sharks. Otto Rocket leads the league in goals, assists and penalty minutes. He is the leader of this potent Sharks team and a prime candidate for MVP honors. Nick Dean leads his team in goals with 31, but will it be enough to take down the team with the best record in the NHL? Hello, everyone. Welcome to Dallas and the NHL on NBC. Alongside John Davidson, I'm Mike Emrick. February is rapidly drawing to a close around the NHL. It's crunch time, JD. Can Otto Rocket show his MVP form and bring his boys home? That's the question.

John Davidson: Well, he's trying to lead his team to a division title, Mike. He's played the Stars only once this season, has 3 goals and 3 assists against them. Those 3 goals came on the power play in a 7-0 victory on November 8. After tonight, he'll play them again on April 6. He's been the headliner of that 1st line this season alongside his sister, Reggie Rocket, and Twister Rodriguez. Of course, that first line is not the only catalyst for this Sharks team. They also have the brick wall of Sam 'Stonewall' Dullard. He leads the league in wins with 45. He leads the league in save percentage with a .984 and he leads the league in average with a 0.44 goals against average. Quite simply....no pucks can get past him, Mike.

Mike Emrick: 20,000+ on hand hoping to see Nick Dean and the Stars take down the best team in the NHL. We take a look at our officiating crew - Brad Watson and Dennis LaRue are the referees, Shandor Alphonso and Don Henderson are the linesmen. Brian Mach and Dan O'Halloran are the standbys and the off-ice officials are from the New York Rangers. WE'RE UNDERWAY FROM DALLAS! Thanks for having us in for the NHL on NBC. Mike Emrick, John Davidson with you. Pierre McGuire's walking along the ice, we'll check in with him as the game goes on. Opportunity now for the Sharks, 3 on 1, Rodriguez....to Rocket....SCORES! #58 FOR OTTO ROCKET! SHARKS STRIKE FIRST! IT'S 1-0! There you see the 'Selanne Countdown' at the SAP Center in San Jose. Otto Rocket now 19 goals away from breaking Teemu Selanne's record for most goals in a single season.

Goal: Otto Rocket (58)
Assists: Twister Rodriguez (67), Reggie Rocket (55)
Time: 0:22 - 1st Period

Mike Emrick: Otto Rocket from Reggie Rocket and Rodriguez at 22 seconds into the opening period....AND OTTO STRIKES AGAIN! 2 GOALS IN 9 SECONDS! SHARKS UP 2-0!

John Davidson: I don't know how the Stars could've let this happen, Doc. Rodriguez gets the puck off the draw, spots Otto Rocket breaking free, fires the long pass to Rocket, he was in the right place at the right time. Nothing Betty Quinlan could've done there.

Goal: Otto Rocket (59)
Assist: Twister Rodriguez (68)
Time: 0:31 - 1st Period

Mike Emrick: The NHL on NBC is brought to you by....Honda - Official vehicle of the NHL; by Target - Expect More, Pay Less; and by Universal Pictures 'Fifty Shades of Grey', in theaters now, rated R. A full moon evening over Dallas and the American Airlines Center....

John Davidson: That's probably why the Stars are down 4-0, Doc.

Mike Emrick: Sometimes I don't get your reasoning, JD. 32 shots for the Sharks compared to just 19 for the Stars. Sam Dullard has stopped everything in sight so far, bolstering that save percentage of his to a .990, still #1 in the NHL. No carry over penalties or power plays heading into this final period, face off won by the Sharks as Twister Rodriguez will take it up ice. Rodriguez with a shot! Save by Quinlan, rebound....SCORES!
