ABC?

(IndyCar on ABC/ESPN theme)

Allen Bestwick: ABC Sports welcomes you to Verizon IndyCar Series racing live from the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City! The last time the IndyCar Series raced here was in 2008. Traditionally, this was the last race before the Indy 500. Tonight, it's the last race before we decide the championship in Las Vegas! Can points leader Dan Kuso hang on to his slim lead or will more trouble befall the Ganassi juggernaut and allow guys like Rocket, Cunningham, Turner, Pickles and Flynn to get right back in the hunt when we decide the champion in Sin City? Hi again, everyone. Alongside former Indy 500 champion Scott Goodyear and 1985 Sprint Cup champion Rusty Wallace, I'm Allen Bestwick. Thanks for having us in for the race. Scott, this is the final race before we head to Las Vegas to decide the championship. Dan Kuso leads the points, but by only 1 point over his teammate, Ben Tennyson. Question is, will he be able to hold down the fort to try and lock down the title in Las Vegas?

Scott Goodyear: I think he can, but it will take a monumental effort on his part to win the title in Vegas. First thing's first....he's got to have a good run here in Kansas.

Rusty Wallace: When the 2014 schedule was first released last September, I was shocked to see that we got 4 1.5 mile ovals to wrap up the season. They're all equally tricky, but I have a feeling this race will come down to not just tires, but fuel mileage. One miscalculation here at Kansas or at Vegas and the championship could slip through your fingers. If you're Dan Kuso, you can't let that happen!

Allen Bestwick: After these 300 miles here in Kansas, we'll be 1 race away from crowning a champion of the Verizon IndyCar Series. Let's head down trackside.

Track Announcer: Kansas, ARE YOU READY?! Please welcome the head coach of your Kansas City Chiefs, ANDY REID, as he delivers the most famous words in motorsports!

Andy Reid: Drivers, Start Your Engines!

(33 900 horsepower engines fire up)

Allen Bestwick: Andy Reid, coach of the hometown Chiefs, getting us fired up tonight. He is also going to be riding shotgun with Mario Andretti in Honda's FASTEST SEAT IN MOTORSPORTS. We take a look at our starting grid for tonight's Roadrunner Turbo Indy 300, which was set by the points, putting Dan Kuso on the pole here in Kansas. 33 cars set to take to the Kansas Speedway tonight. All restarts here will be double-file. The initial start will be triple file. We'll go 200 laps to make up the 300 mile distance, it's 60 MPH on pit lane and the pit window, Scott?

Scott Goodyear: 42-46 laps here in Kansas, Allen. Rusty mentioned that this could be a fuel mileage race and it'll all be because of that pit window. Some teams may shortpit, some may try to stretch it.

Rusty Wallace: Conserve your fuel, conserve your tires and you might end up in Victory Lane at the end of the night here in Kansas, Scott.

Allen Bestwick: Pace car peels off, field out of turn 4 and Sarah Hyland from ABC's 'Modern Family' waves the green flag, WE ARE RACING IN KANSAS!

(START - 200 Lap Race)

Rusty Wallace: TROUBLE! 9 AND 10 CARS INTO THE WALL!

Allen Bestwick: That's our points leaders, Dan Kuso and Ben Tennyson slamming the wall hard in turn 3! Caution out for the first time before we even get a lap in here in Kansas!

Scott Goodyear: And now the championship is wide open.

Rusty Wallace: This will probably make Las Vegas a must win for Kuso and Tennyson.

Allen Bestwick: Otto Rocket leads lap 1 as we get the yellow flag for a wreck involving 2 of the Ganassi cars, our points leaders Dan Kuso and Ben Tennyson.

(RESTART: Lap 12 - 11 caution laps)

Allen Bestwick: 12 laps complete this time by, back to green flag racing in Kansas as Otto Rocket leads 'em down to the restart and he's off and running, Rusty!

Rusty Wallace: Rocket's had nothing but bad luck these past few weeks, Allen. He wants to turn it around and get back on the championship path as we close in on the finale in Vegas.

Allen Bestwick: That's gonna be next Saturday, October 10th, 8/7 Central here on ABC. Our coverage is presented by GoDaddy. It's Andretti, Penske, Penske, Schmidt, Rahal in terms of owners at the front of the field. Otto Rocket leads, he's followed by Pickles, Cunningham, Flynn and Turner to round out the top 5 as we are through 16 of 200 laps here in Kansas. We'll take a little break, but you'll miss nothing as we go Side-By-Side presented by Dairy Queen!

(Lap 68 - Caution 2)

Allen Bestwick: 68 laps complete here in Kansas, under caution for the 2nd time tonight, debris in the backstretch has brought out the yellow this time. We go to our Pennzoil TRIPLE PITS and Jamie Little!

Jamie Little: Otto Rocket has led the whole race so far, 4 tires and fuel for car 26 and he's away! The Penske teams of Cunningham and Pickles also going for 4 tires and fuel, no adjustments for either the 12 or the 3, they're looking to take advantage of Ganassi's misfortune and get back in the title hunt as we head to Vegas! They're away!

Top 10:

1. Otto Rocket (26)
2. Tommy Pickles (3)
3. Randy Cunningham (12)

5. Phineas Flynn (99)

(Lap 194)

Allen Bestwick: Well, guys. Under the red flag here in Kansas....strike that, IndyCar has made this race official at lap 194 due to the 13 car wreck that occurred in the frontstretch. Officials have determined the wreck would take too long to clean, even with the red flag and they want to get the fans out at a decent hour. So, IndyCar has decided to call off the final 6 laps of the RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300 and TODD DARING IS YOUR WINNER IN KANSAS! Dave Burns is with him.

Dave Burns: Todd Daring, you've been frustrated all season long with near misses and wrecks. Tonight was your night. You took the lead on lap 142 and got past that 13 car crash, now you're here in Victory Lane. Todd, how does this win bode for you as you prepare for 2015?

Todd: I couldn't be more thrilled to get that first win out of the way, let alone have it be at a place like here at Kansas! We may be out of the championship hunt, but I'll do whatever I can to help Tommy and Randy win the title in Vegas.

Dave Burns: Todd Daring finally gets into the win column here in Kansas.
